Manager of Business Development
COMPANY: Pacific Air Industries / Air Cert (a holding of Permanent Equity)
POSITION: Manager, Business Development
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
HIRING MANAGER: Jason Harp, CEO
DESCRIPTION
The Company
Founded in 1959, Pacific Air Industries & Air Cert are the aerospace industry’s trusted partners for expendable and rotable airplane parts. We help airlines and other air-carriers keep their planes in the air by providing competitive pricing on our extensive inventory and shipping their orders the same day. We are able to achieve this level of service through partnership with our in-house FAA 145-repair shop, Air-Cert. We are seeking a Manager of Business Development across both Pacific Air Industries and Air-Cert to expand our client relationships, leveraging our excellent 60 year reputation in the aerospace community.
Today, we are supported by a group of long-term investors that recently invested, looking to build on our legacy. We service a global client base including commercial airlines, other air-carriers and MRO facilities leveraging our inventory with 300k+ parts near LAX, the third busiest airport in the world. In addition to supplying parts, we partner with our customers to service and repair parts to make sure they can keep their fleets flying. The combination of these two offerings gives us a strategic advantage in servicing our > 1,000 customers.
The Opportunity
Become the face of our business as we continue building on our strong legacy through strengthened relationships, data and analytics, an influx of financial resources and improved operational transparency. Join our leadership team, which represents a diverse mix of airplane experts and experienced business operators from high profile organizations, such as Bain & Company, Habitat for Humanity and Continental Airlines.
As the Manager of Business Development, you will have sole responsibility for acquiring and managing new client relationships across the commercial airplane industry. You will strategically determine sources of new business for Pac-Air, establish contact at target firms and develop relationships with key players. Each of these activities will help you achieve our strategically important outcomes, including generating new sources of inventory, expanding our customer relationships and developing improved revenue models as you highlight the value Pac-Air brings to the industry and match our strategic advantages with market needs.
To accomplish this, you should both have a thorough understanding of “what works” in Business Development and be open and interested in new ideas and ways to “up your game.” You should be able to identify and prioritize new client candidates, researching their current fleets and potential maintenance needs in order to clearly show the benefits of working with Pac-Air. You should be an excellent communicator and relationship builder, able to build connections with people via email, phone, and in-person. You should be a superior partner to both internal sales and purchasing, working together to build strategies for winning new business. You should be excited to work in an analytically-focused environment and to be rewarded for the revenue streams you create.
An ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated past success in B2B business development and/or outside sales
A solid knowledge of the aerospace industry, with extra consideration to candidates with experience in aircraft parts and/or maintenance
An ability to build new relationships and be “the face of the company” to clients and prospects
An excitement and ability to travel to meet new customers, possibly >50% of the time
A demonstrated capacity for prioritizing prospects and building strategic plans for capturing new business
Interested candidates should send a resume to jasonh@pac-air.com.
