Buyer (Pac-Air)

COMPANY: Pacific Air Industries / Air Cert (a holding of Permanent Equity)

POSITION: Specialist, Buyer

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

HIRING MANAGER: Ron Munzlinger, VP Procurement

DESCRIPTION

The Company

Founded in 1959, Pacific Air Industries is the aerospace industry’s trusted partner for expendable and rotable airplane parts. We help airlines and other air-carriers keep their planes in the air by providing competitive pricing on our extensive inventory and shipping their orders the same day. We are able to achieve this level of service through partnership with our in-house FAA 145-repair shop, Air-Cert.

Today, we are supported by a group of long-term investors that recently invested, looking to build on our 60 year legacy. We service a global client base including commercial airlines, other air-carriers and MRO facilities leveraging our inventory with 300k+ parts near LAX, the third busiest airport in the world. In addition to supplying parts, we partner with our customers to service and repair parts to make sure they can keep their fleets flying. The combination of these two offerings gives us a strategic advantage in servicing our > 1,000 customers.

The Opportunity

Become a critical contributor as we invest in the future of Pacific Air Industries (Pac-Air) and Air Cert. At Pac-Air, inventory is a critical differentiator for us. When we tell a customer that we have the part, we mean it. Our reliability is how we have maintained our excellent & lasting reputation in the aerospace community. As a Buyer on our team, you will take on significant responsibility over our ongoing inventory purchases. These long-term, investing decisions are critical to the sustainability of both our business and our ongoing customer service.

As the Buyer, you will be a critical contributor to making sure we make informed purchases on lot buys and OEM agreements. Our lot buys can exceed several hundred thousand dollars at a time. These investments help us provide liquidity to our airline and MRO service partners as they seek to right size their inventory of surplus airplane parts in line with their ever-changing fleets. You will also have the opportunity to research vendors, develop new partnerships and growing our OEM platform.

To accomplish this, you should have an open and analytical mind, an interest in airplanes, supply chain management & logistics and an investing mindset. You will need to research and estimate the value of large parts lists, identify and prioritize new OEM opportunities and create mostly-automated re-order processes where appropriate. You should be a superior partner to both sales and warehouse staff, working together to build strategies for building our business. You should be excited to work in an analytically-focused environment and to be rewarded in a meritocratic environment.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated past success in some form of planning or purchasing environment

  • A solid knowledge of the aerospace industry, with extra consideration to candidates with experience in aircraft parts and/or maintenance

  • An ability to leverage data, from multiple locations, to drive actionable insights and productive negotiations

  • An excitement and ability to travel to meet new vendors

  • A demonstrated capacity for prioritizing purchasing opportunities and automating repetitive analyses

Interested candidates should send a resume to ronm@pac-air.com.
